Great Weekend for Art Lovers
Sep 28, 2012
The folks at the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie are prepared to make your weekend a bit brighter by inviting you to a community block party tonight, September 28 and a family festival tomorrow, September 29.
You make be asking yourself what is the cause for such celebration? As you may recall, the gallery’s previous home in the historic 1929 Grande Prairie High School building partially collapsed in 2007, and now that the construction is finished it is time to party!
The community block party will bring guests and dignitaries together to toast the opening of the newly structured art gallery and allow visitors to roam the new gallery and courtyard. The block party will also be accompanied by a ribbon cutting ceremony and local musical talents Chris McIntyre and Nathan Rogers.
The family festival for the AGGP starts bright and early on Saturday with a multitude of different activities for all ages. Families can tour the building, take in a speaker series, or celebrate by getting some colorful face paint.
Whether you are a devoted patron of the art gallery or if this will be your first time, they are welcoming everyone to come take part in the festivities.
