Recognizing Women Worldwide

International Women's Day Dawson Creek International Women’s Day has been celebrated for over a hundred years. Annually you’ll find thousands of events held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. The Peace Region offering an abundance of woman-centric events, including a women-powered trade fair at the Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre in Dawson Creek.

The fair will include artists, businesses, crafters, as well as free workshops to encourage the empowerment of all women.

"In every region of Canada, particularly in rural and remote regions, women play important roles in their families and communities, and are key to our country’s prosperity,” said Rona Ambrose, Minister for Status of Women.

“Since its birth in the socialist movement,” states the IWD website, “International Women's Day has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration across developed and developing countries alike.”

All throughout the Peace Region there are some fantastic events that celebrate this day and movement.
