Everything's Coming Up Ukrainian

Mar 15, 2013

Vitaemo Festival Grande Prairie The Troyanda Society of Ukrainian Culture and Heritage is inviting all Peace Region residents to join them in celebrating their annual Vitaemo Festival. Vitaemo, meaning ‘welcome’ in Ukrainian, will be an open celebration to all regardless of heritage.

Held on Saturday, March 16, and Sunday, March 17, at the GPRC from 11 am to 4 pm, the Vitaemo Festival will showcase the best that Ukrainian culture has to offer.

There will be regional dancers performing… Baba’s Marketplace, children’s activities and of course an authentic Ukrainian kitchen. The kitchen will be serving Ukrainian delights such as perogies, cabbage rolls, borscht and assorted meats.

This year’s festival will also include a special Zabava celebration on Saturday night at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre. Enjoy an old-fashioned family dance with live music, and of course, more Ukrainian fare to feast on.

The event as a whole is designed to introduce Ukrainian culture to those that are interested and as a celebration for those who share that heritage.
