A is for Agriculture

Mar 6, 2014

wheat, bale, farmer, farm, country, agriculture, farming,In case it’s not already marked on your calendar, this Sunday we “spring forward” and daylight savings time begins. With the return to longer days and the coming growing season it only seems fitting that the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show is back.

In its 29th year, the Agri-Show has grown from a single day event showcasing the industry and heritage of Alberta to a huge three- day affair that draws thousands of people. If last year’s show was any indication, this year’s show will be larger than ever, with hundreds of companies on hand that cater to the agricultural industry.

The show runs March 6-8 at the Entrec Centre at Evergreen Park, and will be full of activities focused on every aspect of the agricultural industry. There will be seminars and information on everything from Grain and Beef Market Outlooks to Quad Safety. If you’re there Friday afternoon, don’t forget to venture out of the Entrec Centre for the Cattle Sale at the Drysdale Centre. In addition to the seminars, the usual favourites will be there such as a petting zoo and youth programs, including horse and cattle judging classes, heifer and steer shows, as well as a super secret mystery class!

One of Alberta’s biggest industries, agriculture is second only to oil and gas production. It employs millions of people in the province. Agriculture reaches into everyone’s life on a daily basis: from the steak on your BBQ to the Corn Flakes in your pantry. So whether you are directly involved in the industry or not, the Agri-Show is definitely worth a visit.

Find out why the A in Alberta stands for Agriculture! Come on down to the Evergreen Centre and learn what this industry has to offer the community and province.
