Snow-Melting Metal

Avenged Sevenfold, Hail to the King, Shepherd of Fire, Hellyeah, Metal, Heavy Metal, Mile Zero Meltdown, Meltdown, Metal ConcertDo you think snow will be the only thing melting this Saturday in Dawson Creek? If you do, then you are mistaken, because it’s time again for the Mile Zero Meltdown! This year’s Mile Zero Meltdown brings 2012 Golden God Award winners Avenged Sevenfold to the Encana Events Centre along with heavy metal super-group, HELLYEAH and a surprise special guest.

Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) has undergone many transformations since they first formed in 1999. Initially classed as metalcore, their sound has evolved over the years to encompass their classic metal roots.

After the tragic death of their drummer James “The Rev” Sullivan in 2009, they considered disbanding. Thankfully, this was just a fleeting thought because two albums later, they are still going strong.

Their most recent album, Hail to the King, which was released in August 2013, has seen them rise to the top with much commercial success and critical acclaim. During its first week of release, it sold a whopping 159,000 copies in the US alone and the title track itself has charted #1 on the US Billboard 200, the UK albums charts and here in the true North strong and free.

Concert goers will find their metal appetites equally satisfied by HELLYEAH’s party-centric, good-time, southern metal. Dawson Creek is no stranger to HELLYEAH, having become well acquainted with them when they stopped by on the Gigantour last year.

Expect to be pleasantly surprised by the new tracks from HELLYEAH’S upcoming album, Blood for Blood. According to singer Chad Gray, the new songs are “heavy both aggressively and emotionally” and each song is meant to hit you like an all-out fist fight. Concert goers can also expect a new line-up, as Bloodsimple’s Kyle Sanders will be replacing Bob “Zilla” Kakaha on bass, who along with guitarist Greg Tribbett, parted ways earlier this year.

Hit singles and line-up changes aside, the pure energy of this year’s Mile Zero Meltdown is sure to get your blood pumping and the temperature rising. If the snow’s not melted by Saturday, it sure will be after the show!
