Everybody packs up and heads to Grande Prairie for the East Coast Garden Party! On July 18 and 19 head on over to the South Bear Creek ball diamonds and discover one of the most popular summer events in the City.

Justin Elliot, a true Newfoundlander, developed this festival back in 2008 with one goal in mind – to bring East Coast culture to Alberta. Since its inception it has been a hit amongst the many Newfoundlanders and people from the Maritimes who have relocated to Alberta.

Originally it was organized by “East Coasters” with the entertainment being primarily Celtic in scope. It has since evolved into something much bigger and better with born-and-raised Albertans joining in on the organization of the event. The entertainment has also evolved over the years into a nice fusion of East Coast music as well as rock from both local and international bands.

This year’s two-day music festival will feature a Friday night devoted to rock including Nazareth, The Sheepdogs and popular local band, The Privateers.

If you like Celtic music, then you will want to hit the Garden Party on Saturday when Celtic bands Cod Gone Wild and The Boys of St. James's Gate will be performing. You are also going to want to check out The Derina Harvey Band, a local band that performs both Celtic and classic rock.

In Newfoundland, house parties are a family affair and children often come along to play downstairs while the parents are upstairs. In true Newfoundland flavour, the East Coast Garden Party is also a family affair with a kids’ zone featuring clowns, face painters and this year’s special guest, Kevin Kazoo. Your children will feel part of the show as Kevin leads them in popular sing-along tunes. Let the kids share in on the fun and bring them along!

In addition to East Coast musical flair, you will also find East Coast cuisine - in other words - fresh seafood! Adults can also kick back and relax in the beer gardens.

You won’t find an East Coast experience right here in the west that’s better than this!
