Jun 12, 2012

SomeAre Solstice Flutes Beaverlodge Tomorrow night, June 13, SomeAre Solstice Flutes will be at the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre. This is one of many intimate musical evenings held by the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre, where residents and visitors alike can enjoy an evening out with one-of-a-kind music and culture.

SomeAre Solstice Flutes are an acoustic band that marries the dobro, played by John Fletcher, with the Native American cedar flute, played by Janina Carlstad.

Both John and Janina are residents of the Peace Region. John has attended various music festivals across Alberta and has a longstanding appreciation and understanding for music of all kinds. Janina belongs to a world flute organization called the International Native American Flute Association, is the co-chair of the Northern Alberta Native American Flute Circle, and is the vice-president of the Peace Region Songwriters out of Dawson Creek, BC.

With a strong passion for their unique music, John and Janina strive to educate others on the background and history of these intricate instruments.
